3PP Heat Shrinkable Wraps for High-Temperature Pipeline Joints

3PP heat shrinkable wraps are designed for field-joint corrosion protection on compatible polypropylene-coated pipelines. Selecting the complete coating system is essential: the backing, adhesive and primer must work together under the intended service conditions.

How the three-layer system works

A typical 3PP field-joint system combines a solvent-free two-component epoxy primer, a polypropylene-compatible hot-melt adhesive and a radiation-crosslinked polypropylene backing. The primer bonds to the prepared steel, the adhesive wets the joint area during installation, and the backing provides external mechanical protection.

Typical applications

These systems can be considered for high-temperature oil and gas gathering lines, heat-transfer pipelines and chemical service pipelines. Suitability for a new field joint or a repair depends on the existing coating, pipe geometry and project specification. Confirm the product grade and qualified temperature range before ordering.

Selection and installation checks

Specify the pipe diameter, existing coating, operating temperature, joint dimensions and required testing documents. Installation normally includes surface preparation, primer application and controlled heating to achieve uniform shrinkage and adhesive flow. Follow the approved product instructions and project inspection procedure; do not substitute generic heating settings for the product-specific method.
